It been a few weeks since I last updated my blog. School has been kicking my ass. Next week is spring break, so I hope to post more then.

Can't Stop the Fro

I have shot a lot of high school basketball games. I'm always amazed at the creative of the student sections of the crowd. Last night a dozen kids sported Afros to support their team and one of the local high school basketball players.

Another Surgery for Daniel

Today, I photograph Daniel Garica while he under went jaw surgery. I have been working on a long term project on Daniel since 2006. The doctors hope that the procedure will help him be better able to chew his food. Daniel has been operate on dozens of times in his short 8 years of life. Next, month he will be traveling to Texas to have rib surgery.

I'm very grateful for my friends who blessed me with their appearance at my 3oth birthday party last weekend. I took a few seconds from my drunkin' dancing to snap some quick shots. There is something about simple black and white mugs shots of friends that I love. I made these photographs to help me remember these moments in the future. In a way, these shots will be some of the most important images I will make in my lifetime. Quality time spent my friends.

Since classes started at UMW I have been shooting a lot of A&E and prep sports assignments on the late shift. Here are a few outtakes from my shoot.

Photo Essay: The Rock Show

I had an assignment to shoot a community rock concert. The evening started off slow, but as the tempo of the music increased so did my shooting. I enjoy the challenge of shooting in these kinds of light conditions. It really makes you work harder and I had to be more patient, as I look for the right combination of moment and light to release the shutter.

Kids and Politics

Kids and politics do not mix. When I took this picture I could hardly believe that a small group of parents would use their children as poster stands on a local Virginia street. I doubt these kids really have a clue on what or who Ron Paul really is.
